How the Forever Class Lab works
The lab is a talent calculator with a class tester. Build your talents and action bar, then play your class in a test made for its role.
It shows how a class plays, not how much it does. There are no DPS, HPS or threat numbers on screen: simulated numbers would not tell you how a class does in the real game, but the rhythm, the procs and the decisions of a class do carry over.
Where the data comes from
- Public beta data. Every ability and talent comes from the public data of the WoW: Forever beta, build 1.60.1.70753 (November 2, 2026), as ForeverChanges shows it: costs, cast times, cooldowns, ranges, tooltips, talent trees and ranks. Some launch changes are not in the game client yet: those come from Blizzard's launch notes, and their tooltip says so.
- Spell tables. Spell power coefficients and the minimum time between procs come from the beta's spell tables, as published on wago.tools.
- Checked automatically. A script compares every ability in the lab with that data: cost, cast time, cooldown, range, and the numbers of its tooltip and of its effects. It runs again whenever the data changes, including at launch on November 4.
- Suggested builds. Each spec starts from my own build of that spec.
The three tests
- Damage (every class): one or five Training Dummies that never hit back, with a level 63 raid boss's armor, and you on the hit cap. Their health goes down and comes back full at zero, so low-health abilities like Execute come up on their own. Infinite mana is an option for mana users.
- Tank (Warrior, Paladin and Druid): a Molten Core level boss that hits back, a Rogue racing you for threat and a Priest healing you both. If the Rogue pulls the boss, taunt it back before he dies. You can remove either of them or turn on immortal.
- Healing (Priest, Paladin, Druid and Shaman): a Warrior tank and a Mage in your group. The boss hits the tank, burns everyone with a Flame Wave and puts on a debuff that a dispel on your action bar can remove (no dispel on the bar, no debuffs). Infinite mana, everyone immortal and the debuffs are options.
- Gear. Everyone plays in Molten Core level gear, approximate stats for each class and role. Advanced, in Gear and options, changes the tier or every stat by hand.
What is simulated
- 308 of the 402 abilities and 399 of the 464 talents of the nine classes. Anything that is not simulated says so in its tooltip, and still costs its resource and takes its time.
- Classic 1.12 combat, unless Forever changed it: the attack table against a level 63 boss, glancing blows, armor, spell misses and crits, rage, energy, mana and the five-second rule, threat, and the delay when you are hit while casting.
- The kit of each class: forms, stances, auras, seals, totems, pets, procs, heals over time, shields, dispels, taunts.
- Buffs at the start: each class starts the fight with its own buffs, the ones that suit the spec (Arcane Intellect, Battle Shout, Blessings, Mark of the Wild, shields and armors).
What is estimated
- Proc rates. The game keeps them on the server, so the public data doesn't have them. Omen of Clarity, Seal of Command (7 times a minute), Vindication, Frostbrand and Maelstrom Weapon use Classic values; the minimum time between procs comes from the public data.
- "A chance", "high threat". Where a Forever tooltip gives no number, the lab uses the Classic value.
- Bosses and bots. They are generic stand-ins, tuned so a class played well succeeds and a careless one struggles. They are not real encounters.
- Gear. The presets are typical stats for each tier, not real items.
Not in the lab yet
- Real raid bosses, adds and PvP.
- Abilities that need an Undead, Demon or Humanoid target (Exorcism, Holy Wrath, Chastise) are off for now.
- Racial spells only for the Priest, who picks a race on the race bar before the fight.
Help make it closer to the game
If something does not feel like your class, or a number looks wrong, use Feedback in the lab. It attaches your class, your build and the test you were in, so I can open exactly what you saw. Every message is read, and messages from players who played the class in the beta help the most.
If the lab helped you
Thank you for trying it. The lab is a one-person project, made in my free time for players who, like me, want to feel a class before committing to it. If it helped you, a coffee on Ko-fi keeps me tinkering, and a message in Feedback is just as welcome.
